LG Electronics is showcasing its robotics ambitions at the 2026 First Global Challenge, an international youth robotics competition running Wednesday through Saturday at Songdo Convensia in Incheon.
The company is sponsoring the event, which brings together youth teams from 185 countries to design and build robots, complete missions and collaborate on solutions to global challenges.
Held annually by US nonprofit First Global since 2017, this year's competition is themed “Igniting Innovation” and focuses on wildfire prevention and recovery as climate change increases wildfire risks. Participants will use robots they have built to complete missions simulating different stages of a wildfire.
LG will operate an exhibition booth showcasing its latest robotics technologies and business vision. Visitors can also take photos with LG CLOiD, the company's humanoid robot, alongside a model weightlifting bar designed to symbolize taking on bold challenges.
The company will share stories of participants' challenges, teamwork and growth through its global and digital channels.
The sponsorship comes as LG steps up investment in robotics as a future growth engine, with physical AI at the center of its strategy. Its portfolio spans industrial, commercial and home robots, as well as key components including actuators.
LG recently launched LG Data Factory to collect and manage data used to train and operate robots. By combining the data with Nvidia's robotics technologies, the company aims to advance its Robot Foundation Model and build an integrated robotics business spanning hardware and software.
“We will support the next generation in contributing to global problem-solving through innovation and a spirit of challenge, while sharing the value of using technologies such as robotics to create a better life and future for the planet,” said Kim Hyo-eun, head of brand management at LG Electronics.
